Planning Commission Issues Unanimous Recommendation for UDO Approval

Immediately following their Tuesday, September 22 work session, in which the city’s proposed Unified Development Ordinance was discussed at length, Snellville’s Planning Commission received a presentation from project consultant, Caleb Racicot, and unanimously recommended approval of the draft ordinance by City Council in October.

Noting that the process is something they’ve been monitoring for its multiple year history, the Commission expressed confidence in how the draft ordinance had turned out.

“Moving forward, we encourage the community to stay engaged,” notes Director of Planning and Development Jason Thompson. “There’ll be two readings of the code in October, after which Council will vote on adoption.”

Those meetings are:

City Council
Monday, October 12, 2020 | 7:30pm
First of two UDO meetings
Council Chambers, City Hall

Monday, October 26, 2020 | 7:30pm
Second of two UDO meetings
Council Chambers, City Hall

Adds Thompson, “We particularly encourage comment at the first meeting on October 12, as that provides sufficient time for staff to address any final issues prior to the October 26 vote.”
